Over the weekend, PCJH Student Council sent ten student representatives to the IAJHSC State Convention in Springfield. Upon arrival, the council donated 235.2 pounds of pop-tabs to Ronald McDonald House, more than doubling last year's total! Throughout the convention, our representatives participated in the election process including campaign speeches and interviews, caucus meetings, general session meetings, and also the election & installment of next year's district representatives. They mingled and exchanged ideas with over 700 other student representatives from across the state. The entire convention along with our very enthusiastic council representatives cheered for our captain, Mrs. Jonnita Vogel, as she was recognized for 30 years of service to IAJHSC and the PCJH Student Council. We certainly wouldn't be the council we are without her faithful leadership over the years! To culminate our weekend, our council was recognized as an Honor Council, something we have been achieving since the creation of the award over 50 years ago. We are incredibly proud of our council, their decorum at convention, and their numerous accomplishments this year!
Today, the 3rd grade classes held their Annual Muscle Kart building in conjunction with the Fairbury Speedway. Thank you to Matt Curl and Gunner Sullivan for helping to organize today for us and for storing and delivering them. A special thank you to adult volunteers Mike Norris, Andrew Quain, Macy Vaughan, Austin Friedman, John and Victor Strong, Alan Stipp, Terry Kalkwarf, Russell Snearly, Erin Ifft. Ryan Edwards, Jeff Curl, Kent Casson, Karen Coombs, and Tina Seifert. Without your help and insight, today would not be possible. Thank you to PC High school Industrial Technology teacher Alan Dunahee, and students Brayden Platz,Caiden Schulz, Kaden Davis, Wade Fehr, Easton Friedman, Jaydyn Knox, Landon Cottrell, and Carson Leman. Preston Plenert, and Avery Elder. Muscle Karts teach students teamwork, about pushes and pulls, and timing and speed.

The PCHS varsity baseball game scheduled vs BHRA for today Tuesday, April 23, has been canceled due to the rain.
PCUE celebrated Earth Day around the town of Forrest. Students walked around town collecting and properly disposing of garbage while others decorated and filled large flower pots with flowers. Many of our local businesses were recipients of these beautiful pots. A special thanks to Mrs. Ritter and Mrs. Lawrence for organizing the event!
Prom tickets will be sold through Wednesday, April 24. The dance will be on Saturday, April 27 at Indian Creek Country Club from 7:30-10:30 PM and After Prom will take place from 11:00 PM-1:30 AM at First Baptist Church in Fairbury.

Last week PCPE held our annual Carnival. East families enjoyed, games, face painting, and a dessert walk. Thank you to all staff and parent volunteers. Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Javan Bazzell!
Javan is a 14-year-old 8th grader from Fairbury, and is the son of Mark and Tania. Javan was nominated by Coach Sattler, who wrote, "Javan's been crushing it on the track this season. His dedication, attitude, and leadership are off the charts, pushing the team to new heights. He's always the first to step up for stretches, push through tough workouts, and lend a hand to his teammates. No matter the situation, Javan's always giving it his all.
At the Livingston County meet, Javan faced rain, shine, and even a lightning delay. But did he let that stop him? Not a chance. He ran his leg of the 4x4 relay, only for it to get cut short. No biggie though, because when it was time for a redo, Javan was ready to go. He helped his team secure a first-place finish. At the end of the day, Javan was part of two winning relays. Plus, he snagged second place in the 100m dash and discus events.
Javan's not just a star on the track; he's also a fantastic student. His positive energy and never-give-up attitude inspire us all to bring our A-game. Congratulations Javan for all of your hard work!"
Javan is also involved in football, band, choir, and FFA.
Congratulations to the PCJH Student of the Week, Joshua Ostrander!
Joshua is a 14-year-old 8th grader from Strawn, and is the son of Morgan Pickering & Patrick Stoian. Joshua was nominated by Mrs. Stadnik, who wrote, "In math class, Josh is always helping other students succeed during group time. He is responsible and always comes to class prepared. He's a leader and constantly helps the teacher clean up and stack chairs. Josh is a huge asset to my classroom."

Thank you to everyone who participated in the College and Career Fair at PCHS last Friday, April 12! We had nearly 200 Jr/Sr students and 28 businesses in attendance!!

Fourth graders in learning center have been working on building bridges during their engineering unit. Students have parameters they have to follow (deck at least 6" high, bridge at least 8" wide, only 50 index cards and 24" of masking tape, and free standing). It's interesting to watch them work!
PCJH participated in the Livingston County Tournament on Tuesday. Our team results were:
7th Grade Girls: 1st place
8th Grade Girls: Runner Up
7th Grade Boys: Runner Up
8th Grade Boys: 1st Place
Along with that, we had many runners who earned individual ribbons for placing anywhere from 1st-6th in their respective events. We are so proud of this track team!
Just a reminder, the FCCLA Blood Drive is on Friday, April 19, from 8am-2pm at PCHS! There are still 32 open spots to fill for donors. FCCLA will be providing free walking tacos to all who donate!
