Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Ellie Curl! Ellie is a 13-year-old 8th grader from Fairbury, and is the daughter of Jeff & Bridget Curl. Ellie was nominated by Mrs. Lackaff, who writes, "Ellie has been a member of the band program at Prairie Central since she joined in 5th grade. Ellie plays percussion in band, but has also studied piano privately for many years. In addition to playing percussion in Concert Band, Ellie also plays piano in the PCJH Jazz Band. Last year, she participated in the IGSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest and received a Division I rating for her marimba duet. This fall, Ellie auditioned for the ILMEA All-District Concert Band and the ILMEA All-District Jazz Band. She was selected for both ensembles and will be playing percussion in the All-District Concert Band and piano in the All-District Jazz Band. This is a tremendous honor and is reflective of Ellie's hard work and talent. I love getting to work with Ellie to continue to improve her skills as a musician and I can't wait to continue to watch her improve as she moves on into high school next year!" Ellie is also involved in Student Council, Choir, Art Guild, and Scholastic Bowl.

Congratulations to the PCJH Student of the Week, Hayley Swiech! Hayley is a 13-year-old 8th grader from Fairbury, and the daughter of Jeremy and Amy Swiech. She was nominated by Mrs. Kratochvil, who writes, "I nominated Hayley for Student of the Week because she is a hard-working, conscientious student and a kind friend to her peers. Hayley begins the day with a smile and good morning to me as she picks up her chrome book from my classroom. In class, she is always attentive to instruction and does her very best on graded work. Her comments during discussion lead to increased understanding by her peers, too. She leads by example and is a friend to all. Hayley very much deserves to be Student of the Week!
