Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Rebecca Birge!
Becca is a is a 14-year-old 8th grader from Chenoa, and is the daughter of Terry & Amanda Birge. Becca was nominated by Ms. Tatro, who wrote, "Rebecca is a natural born artist and leader! In Art Guild, she not only excels in creating interesting works, but she actively works to be a positive influence on her peers. She is eager to lend a hand, give some advice, or talk through struggles with her fellow artists. Her fervor and dedication to her skills have absolutely flourished in the last two years that she has been a part of the Art Guild. Rebecca is well versed in drawing and painting, and is always looking to improve and add to her toolbelt. I am very proud of the progress and passion she has shown, and cannot wait to see how far it takes her!" Becca is also involved in Choir.
Congratulations to the PCJH Student of the Week, Lexi Donovan!
Lexi is a 14-year-old 8th grader from Chenoa, and is the daughter of Maggie and Ryne Donovan. Lexi was nominated by Ms. McArdle, who wrote, "Throughout the academic year, Lexi has consistently shown enthusiasm for science! Her commitment to success is evident in her high-quality work, engagement in class discussions, and (most importantly) her willingness to assist her peers in understanding challenging concepts. Lexi is not only an outstanding student academically, but also someone who embodies many of the values her teachers appreciate!
Beyond the classroom, Lexi actively participates in various extracurricular activities, demonstrating exceptional leadership skills and a genuine passion for making a positive impact. Whether it's through her involvement in track, volleyball or basketball, Lexi consistently goes above and beyond to contribute positively to the school and the community. You may even see her working out at the local gym or running with her mom when the weather is nice!
Lexi is highly respected, by both peers and teachers, for her kindness, empathy, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed. She consistently exhibits a positive attitude and serves as a role model for her peers. We can't wait to see all Lexi does in high school and beyond!"

Students at Primary East got a visit from the CARES clowns this week. Our kiddos enjoyed the visit and the Jr High kids did a fantastic job.

Prairie Central Schools will be releasing at our REGULAR release time Monday, April 8th instead of our one-hour early out schedule to avoid students being on buses during the eclipse. Thank you for your understanding.
Just a reminder that the Lil Hawks Wrestling Clinic starts tonight for K-8th graders in the high school mat room from 5:30-6:30pm. If you didn't get a form or lost yours, there will be extra forms at the door.

The PCHS track meet scheduled at Deer Creek-Mackinaw for today, Tuesday, April 2nd, has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 4th due to the weather.

Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Ben Joseph!
Ben is a 14-year-old 8th grader from Fairbury, and is the son of Kelli Vagasky and Ben Joseph. Ben was nominated by Mrs. Lackaff, who wrote, "Ben has been a part of the band program at Prairie Central since he moved into the district in 6th grade. He plays trumpet in the PCJH Concert Band, Pep Band, and Jazz Band. He also studies trumpet with a private instructor to further his abilities. In his time at PCJH, he has participated in IGSMA Solo & Ensemble Contest in both 7th and 8th Grade, earning Division 1 ratings for his trumpet solos. Additionally, he auditioned for and was accepted into the ILMEA All-District Concert Band and All-District Jazz Band in both 7th and 8th grade. Ben is an extremely talented and accomplished musician and is an example for others of the results that hard work yields. Ben has also used his talents on numerous occasions, including both Veteran's Day assemblies and Memorial Day observances, to honor veterans and fallen service members by learning and performing Taps. Keep up the great work Ben!" Ben is also involved in FFA, 4-H, Student Council, and Track & Field.

Cadyn is a 13-year-old 8th grader from Fairbury, and is the daughter of Amber and Bruce Pride. Cadyn was nominated by Mrs. Kratochvil, who wrote, "Cadyn exemplifies Prairie Central's motto of "Pride in Excellence!" Cadyn leads by example each and every day. She creates success for herself by participating in discussion and being attentive in class, learning all she can about our American history, and producing excellent work on comprehension and critical thinking pieces. Cadyn is also kind and thoughtful and is a good friend to her peers. She skillfully manages all of it while still actively participating in numerous sports and clubs, including softball, basketball, volleyball, and CARES Clowns. Cadyn is very deserving of being Student of the Week!"
The PCHS girls track meet scheduled for today, Tuesday, March 26 at LaSalle-Peru has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 28.
